Jewel Toned Cake With Meringue Kisses

rainbow cake with meringue kisses

Loved making this jewel toned meringue kisses topped gem of a cake for my friend Poppytalk! I love the look of those crispy chewy coloured meringues dotting the top of this colour blast confection. You can find the whole jewel toned cake with meringue kisses tutorial on Poppytalk! What colours would you choose for a sparkly sweet jewel cake?

This cake seriously makes me want to put on heels and a bright power-colour dress and go OUT. Which is a rare feeling because I usually want to go to bed at 8pm so I can watch 3-4 episodes of my current secret obsession (and probably brutally embarrassing admission), the television program NASHVILLE. It’s all about country music stars and their highly dramatic personal lives. Everyone’s super white and extra pretty and they have a twang to their voice, and they can all sing beautifully and pick up and play guitars like they were born strumming. I’ve always loved and admired that – watching someone pick up a guitar and effortlessly play and sing a pretty song.

Things I wish I had the time to master: playing guitar, learning Mandarin and Cantonese, mastering French. I’ll throw in running a marathon, playing the drums and mastering French pastry techniques.

Things I might get around to doing in the next 7 or 14 years: teaching Teddy the 6 guitar chords I know. Ordering dim sum in broken Cantonese. Running another half marathon one day (MUFFIN TOP!). Learning a third beat on the drums. Making a croissant…!

Yeah. That would all be pretty sweet indeed. xo Lyndsay
