Have you ever listened intently to the lyrics of It’s My Party by Lesley Gore? Man. Total nightmare. Your supposed cad of a jerky little boyfriend ditches you on your BIRTHDAY for slutty Judy? Don’t cry, Lesley. A clown like that is worth kicking to the curb, to use an early 2000s saying. Instead, drown your sorrows in pink buttercream cakes, flutes of cold rosé and the support of your awesome lady friends.
Pictured here: a few recent simple but pretty little party cakes I made for the ladies of Talk Shop Media! A beautiful vanilla buttercream rosette cake (did you know this design was created by Amanda of I Am Baker?) and a big old honking chocolate and vanilla layer cake with vanilla buttercream and the sweetest little pastel sprinkles. This thing weighed probably the amount of a 6 week old baby elephant. I wish I had a slice of cake right now. Happy Monday, friends! xo Lyndsay

Beautiful, beautiful cakes! May I ask what sticks you use as part of the decoration? Toothpicks? Cake pop sticks? I have yet to find something that works.

hi ladan! thank you so much! i use wooden BBQ sticks or japanese cocktail sticks (found at asian dollar stores) for my cake flags, and sometimes toothpicks, too!

These cakes are so, so gorgeous! Elegant perfection with a touch of whimsy, I can’t get enough — and I love those flags. Love your blog, Lyndsay :):)
