It never occurred to me until recently that KIDS read my website.
This photo made me realize this:
6 year old Hazel doing some deep-scrolling on Coco Cake Land, “choosing” cakes for both her mom and herself! CUTE! (Also, eating a poached egg!)
Hazel’s mama is the very talented Katie of Window Community Art Shop – a social enterprise art and craft showcase in Vancouver’s downtown eastside! Katie is an awesome seamstress and one of Vancouver’s coolest mamas. Since I SUCK at sewing, we often trade! Cakes for sewing!!
Katie made me these really amazing coral and grey triangle pennant garlands for my cousin’s upcoming wedding – and in exchange I made lil Hazel this perfectly ruffly pink and purple heart cake! It’s like Upper and Lower Canada! Bartering system is alive and well! Beaver pelts and maple syrup!
Yeah. And there’s Hazel with the big purple bow – CUTE!! Happy Birthday, sweet girl! Anyone else out there skill-trade? xo Lyndsay

I love this cake – the colours are too good! such a nice idea to trade skills rather than money :-)

Hi! Love love this cake. What nozzle dp you use to create those “starfish” stars that you’ve got all around the cake please? Thank you :-)
