Hello there, cake pals!
Thank you for visiting Coco Cake Land.
My name is Lyndsay and I’m the lady hanging out behind the scenes of this one-woman-cakesplosion.
I’m a self-taught baker and cookbook author. I live amongst the mountains and ocean (okay, and some garbage) in my hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with my husband, son and our two kitties Potato and Percy! Lately I’ve been delving right into plant-based baking, which I’m super excited about!
These days I’ve also been hilariously deep into posting to my Coco Cake Land YouTube channel like a pre-teen gamer.
I also play bass guitar in the all-mom punk band KCAR, and my indie-pop shoegazer band Foxgloves.

What is Coco Cake Land?
Coco Cake Land is a modern cake and dessert blog where I share beautiful cakes, original cake tutorials, party DIYs and dessert and vegan recipes, with a strong focus on visuals! You’ll also find a few snippets of my life beyond cakes – family stuff, and inspiration. In 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and finished active treatment in May 2016. My prognosis is good and I am feeling pretty good about life, and cake!

Some of the Stuff I do
- Kitties! I love them! Also, this rainbow caticorn cake!
- With the encouragement of my tween child, I enjoy posting to my Coco Cake Land YouTube channel!
- Several years ago I created this Hungry Caterpillar Cupcakes Cake and it’s still a mega star.
- I like buttercream piping a LOT!
- I have a Substack now. Appropriately, it is called Sungstack.

My Books
My latest book is all about plant-based cakes – Plantcakes: Fancy + Everyday Vegan Cakes for Everyone – published by Appetite Random House.

More Information
What is your background in?
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Gender Studies and Film Studies, and a subsequent Bachelor of Media Arts degree in Integrated Media where I focused on film, video and music. I’ve always loved cakes though – but never imagined it would become my job, even though I always dreamt of being the cake decorator at Dairy Queen! (I still kind of want that job.) I didn’t start baking until I was 30 years old. It’s never too late!

More about me from a few recent interviews!
