Hello there, cake pals!
Thank you for visiting Coco Cake Land.
My name is Lyndsay and I’m the lady hanging out behind the scenes of this one-woman-cakesplosion.
I’m a self-taught baker as well as a blogger, freelance writer and photographer. I live amongst the mountains and ocean (okay, and some garbage) in my hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with my husband and son. Lately I’ve been experimenting with plant-based baking, which I’m super excited about!
What is Coco Cake Land?
Coco Cake Land is a modern cake and dessert blog where I share beautiful cakes, original cake tutorials, party DIYs and dessert recipes with a strong focus on visuals! You’ll also find a few snippets of my life beyond cakes – family stuff, and inspiration. In 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and finished active treatment in May 2016. My prognosis is good and I am feeling pretty good about life, and cake!
Some of the Stuff I do
- A popular post around these parts is this Peanut Butter + Jam Chocolate Cake Recipe!
- I made cakes to commemorate the Women’s March!
- Several years ago I created this Hungry Caterpillar Cupcakes Cake and it’s still a popular little guy.
- I like buttercream piping a LOT!
- I’ve written a lot about my experience with breast cancer, even as told through cakes – like this boob cake post, and this Fuck Cancer cake post.
Coco Cake Land: Cute and Pretty Party Cakes to Bake and Decorate published on August 14th 2018 by Roost Books, available where all fine books are sold!
I’m currently producing my second book all about plant-based cakes – due in 2023 published by Appetite Random House. Stay tuned!
I was named Yahoo Food’s Blogger Of The Year! Neat-o!!! My work has also been featured via Teen Vogue, Oprah.com, Buzzfeed, among many others! :P Included in this great list of Buzzfeed’s 30 Best Food Instagram Accounts You Should Be Following!
What is your background in?
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies and Film Studies, and a subsequent Bachelor of Media Arts degree in Integrated Media where I focused on film, video and music. I’ve always loved cakes though – but never imagined it would become my job, even though I always dreamt of being the cake decorator at Dairy Queen! (I still kind of want that job.)
