Yeah. You know it. Heart day is coming. Good old Valentine’s Day. Do you love heart day? Do you want to smother your loved one with kisses and bonbons and shower them with heart shaped confetti and log-roll in mounds of freshly plucked red velvet rose petals? Or do you want to murder heart day and set fire to its heart shaped boxes of chocolates and professions of sappy love and long walks on the beach and romantic dinners for two? Seems to me like as good a day as any to throw a wicked awesome party – and who doesn’t love a nice little mini party with CAKE and some sweet and simple decor? No sweetie in your life? Invite some pals over for pizza and cake! NBD in 2014!

It’s hard for me to resist making a garland. So here are two very easy ones to jazz up your heart day (or any day!) party: craft paper letter “LOVE” and super cute velvet ribbon garland. The “LOVE” garland was made by free-style cutting letters out of craft paper and adhering to twine with washi tape. The ribbon garland was made by cutting ribbon to varying lengths, using glue (I used a glue gun) to adhere both the ribbons together and attach to twine and cutting a v-point on the ends to finish them. I used the ribbon bits that were cut away as table confetti, too! See below!

Gorgeous luxe velvet ribbons, custom Valentine’s Day classroom cards, washi tape and twine all available through Minted.com.

See you again soon, cake pals!

I absolutely love the piping design of this cake! I’ve never seen that kind of design though. It looks like a normal ribbon design but “doubled” or two-sided….or something. Please tell me what tip you used…I MUST have it! :)
