Hooray! My Bro-in-law ties the knot – nautical wedding cupcakes!

By Lyndsay // Coco Cake Land

The Sunshine Coast is my future dream world. How amazing would it be to live there? So beautiful, so quiet, so lush with forests and ocean… a happy, bustling community, a lovely seaside small town feel, yet so close to the buzz and glittering lights of the city, just in case you went “The Shining” style stir-crazy with all that beauty and quiet…

So my brother-in-law Geoff got married!!! I call him Big Bro – because he is my brother (my only white brother!) and because he is 6 foot 7 – he is tall! And he married the most wonderful girl he could ever marry, the magical Monique, who I call MoMo. I can’t help it. I develop nicknames for the people I like. It’s just the way it is! Geoff and Monique had a beautiful get-away wedding in Egmont, and perhaps one of the most beautiful British Columbia places ever, thanks to the spectacular views – The Westcoast Wilderness Lodge. They were married on this huge deck with this bonkers gorgeous view… and the whole weekend felt like a super fun summer camp… the sun beat down during the day, it set over the ocean into the evening, and we partied into the night on that same deck, beverages flowing and music pumping, the clomping of heels to the beat and the clapping of hands. Late into the night the party ventured down through the forest with candle-lit lanterns to a nearby beach, where braver guests jumped into the cool water, swirling their arms to make phosphorescent angels in the dark…And OF COURSE I made the cake and cupcakes!!! I based the cutting cake on Geoff and MoMo’s wedding invitation, which they crafted themselves using stamps (so clever!). The theme of the wedding was nautical, as both G&M love the ocean and love to sail. I simply adored how the cupcakes turned out – so bright and colorful, but still nautical and summery! I think I will always in love with berry-topped cupcakes… The cupcakes were dark chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and raspberry jam filled vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and fresh berry!

The very nice and cool Jen from Powell River’s Kennedy Photographik took photos, and has graciously allowed me to use them here! (Last two photos are by Coco Cake)

G&M, I just want to say how happy I am for you two – you guys make an amazing couple and I’m very excited to spend many fun times partying together for years and years to come!

xo Lyndsay
